Designing the Think Big for Kids app required balancing a fun, engaging interface with a professional, career-focused platform. It needed to be visually appealing, easy to navigate, and accessible for both students and mentors, ensuring a smooth user experience through thoughtful design and testing.

Building the Foundation: Wireframes
Creating wireframes for the Think Big for Kids app was a crucial first step in shaping the user experience. We started by mapping out the core functionalities, including mentorship matching, career resources, and event scheduling. Low-fidelity sketches helped us quickly visualize the app’s structure and ensure an intuitive flow for students and mentors.

Seamless Staff-to-Student Integration
The Think Big for Kids app integrates BetterMode for content management and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for CRM data, ensuring a seamless and connected user experience.
Branding
We followed the Think Big for Kids brand guide to ensure consistency across the app’s design. Using their established color palette, typography, and logo guidelines, we created a visually cohesive experience that aligned with their existing identity. This helped maintain brand recognition and a familiar look and feel for users.
Beyond aesthetics, we implemented their tone and messaging style to ensure clarity and engagement. Icons, buttons, and layouts were designed to be accessible while reflecting the brand’s energetic and empowering mission. This approach reinforced trust and made the app an extension of their overall brand.
Enhancing Engagement with Animated Icons
To make the app more engaging for students, we incorporated custom-built Lottie animations that added fun and interactivity. These lightweight animations brought key moments (like mentorship matches, career milestones, and event reminders) to life, making the experience more dynamic and visually appealing.
By using smooth, playful animations, we kept the interface lively without overwhelming users. The animations also provided helpful visual cues, guiding students through tasks and reinforcing positive actions. Inspiring Achievement Through Gamified Rewards
To motivate students and keep them engaged, we designed a reward system that rewarded key milestones. Users could earn badges for completing mentorship sessions, exploring career resources, and attending events.
