Recognizing the One World Explorer iPad application as a project that is creating visibility for Tampa’s technology industry and disrupting its industry, the Tampa Bay Technology Forum (TBTF)’s Industry Achievement Awards judges have chosen Haneke Design as a finalist for the Impact Project of the Year. TBTF, Florida’s largest and most influential technology association, will announce the winners of 12 diverse award categories at its 12th Annual Industry Achievement Awards Gala, which will be held on Nov. 6, 2015 at A la Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa.

“We’re proud to be recognized by TBTF for our work on One World Explorer, which is the most exciting and meaningful app project we’ve ever done,” said Jody Haneke, president of Haneke Design. “It’s an honor for us to be a part of the team that is creating memorable experiences for hundreds of thousands of people from across the globe who will visit the One World Trade Center Observatory. The Explorer app is bringing New York City’s skyline and rich history to life for them.”

Visitors to the three-story One World Observatory, which opened in May 2015, can rent customized iPads loaded with the Explorer application to orient themselves with the city and take virtual helicopter tours of over 40 landmarks. The Explorer app delivers stunning 360-degree views of the New York City skyline regardless of fog, rain or darkness. Visitors simply face the iPad in the desired direction as they stroll around the observation deck to see points of interest highlighted within the panoramic view. These are identified by overlaying graphic indicators, displaying iconic buildings, historic places, cultural icons, and sports and entertainment venues. With the tap of a finger, visitors can easily select a particular point of interest, resulting in a quick virtual flight from the tower down to the location.
