Meet Marcus Fernandez, the Lead Front End Developer at Haneke Design.
Before shifting his career sights solely on development, Marcus was running his own development, design, and printing company. Unfortunately, the pandemic was not kind to small businesses, so Marcus used this disruption as an opportunity to hone in on one skill.
In 2020, determined to master coding, Marcus set out on a self-taught journey. For several months, he immersed himself in expanding his skill set and establishing a solid foundation.
“Nowadays, we’ve got access to so much information at our fingertips, and there are so many great, free resources out there, especially for developers. But these things can only take you so far — there’s nothing quite like experience,” explains Marcus.
With his foundation firmly in place, Marcus sought positions that would allow him to apply his newfound skills in real-world scenarios. He found an opening with Haneke Design, and it was there, in the code mines, where he refined his skill set and found a passion for front-end development.
After six months as a contractor with Haneke Design, Marcus was offered a permanent role as the Lead Front End Developer. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in our team, influencing projects with his research, development, and leadership prowess.
What Marcus finds most rewarding about his role is the ability to turn a client’s dream into a digital reality. He thrives on the creative challenge of taking abstract concepts and translating them into functional web applications that will live on and become better over time.
Marcus also relishes the leadership responsibilities that accompany his position. He is a fervent advocate for continuous learning and growth, believing that this enthusiasm permeates his leadership style.
“I love that I have the opportunity to teach the developers on my team and share all the things I’ve learned over the years. The best part is, if you do it right, you’re not just leading; you’re also learning too,” Marcus explains.
The quality of our internal processes have also been improved with the help of his dedication to quality. Marcus is currently working on a chatbot specifically for Haneke Design use.
