1. Get rid of navigation options

Remove the navigation bar unless it’s absolutely essential. You want visitors converting, not clicking elsewhere and getting lost!

2.  Keep key content above the fold

Keep key content “above the fold.” Place your important content on a single screen. You never want to make the prospect scroll down to get to the point!

3. Eliminate “interest killers”

Strip away all unneeded elements. Your landing page should get right to the point. Your prospects expect (and deserve) a relevant message!

4. Ensure continuity

Let visitors know that they’ve arrived at the right place by using your ad heading or a clear identifier right at the top of your landing page!

5. Determine your conversion strategy

If you want subscribers to sign up for a newsletter, the conversion should involve simply entering an email address. If you’re looking for event registration, conversion takes place by filling out a form. Think about your options carefully!

6. Research your buyers in depth

Create a detailed profile of your ideal visitor. Don’t rely on generic demographic descriptions. Visitors expect a targeted message and you must tailor your landing page accordingly!

7. Provide multiple conversion paths

Remove the navigation bar unless it’s absolutely essential. You want visitors converting, not clicking elsewhere and getting lost!

8. Lead the eye to the target

Use type and color to lead visitors to the conversion link. Keep key information close to the center of the screen!

9. Optimize your forms

Allow users to tab around fields and auto-populate them. Request only essentials: an email address for a newsletter, a Zip Code instead of a state, county or city, etc.

10. Test frequently

After designing your landing page, test it with a user group to determine whether the parameters listed above have properly addressed!
